Leather and Kydex materials

All of my leather is full-grain vegetable tanned leather. I buy leather from two places - locally from Tandy Leather Factory and also from Wickett & Craig in Pennsylvania.

I can do minor kydex work though I prefer to limit that to use in conjunction with leather products, e.g. kydex liners or leather-lined kydex, etc. Since I do only minor kydex work I do not have a regular supplier.

Leather and Kydex Colors

I almost always buy natural colored leather (russet) and dye it by hand to suit. The only exception to this rule is black leather. In some cases I buy drum died black leather from Wickett & Craig to be sure I can offer my customers a rich dark black.

I use Fiebings alcohol-based leather dye. I have a many colors and using different application techniques I can produce a huge variety of finishes. Colors I always keep on hand are:

Refer to this color chart to get an idea of what the colors look like.

For kydex I can only get limited colors including black, blue, orange, gray, and olive drab.

Stitching Colors

I have several threads I can use when stitching your project. My favorite thread is designed for sailors; it's Marlowe #4 whipping twine, a waxed polyester thread that is very heavy duty for this application. I also use other brands of quality thread as necessary. I enjoy using colored thread where appropriate to complement a project. The thread colors I keep on hand are:
